Wyze Bulb Color Review
For over 11 years, SafeWise experts have conducted independent research and testing to create unbiased, human reviews. Learn how we test and review.
The Wyze Bulb Color impressed us with its rich colors and adjustable brightness. Plus, it is more affordable than the competition without sacrificing major features. This smart bulb even works with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice control.
While the Wyze app wasn’t as user friendly as we hoped, we recorded some quick tutorial videos to help you set up automation rules without too much hassle.

Super bright and dimmable
With 1100 Lumens—nearly three times as many as competitors—the Wyze Bulb Color can get searingly bright. Thankfully, it’s dimmable down to 30 Lumens. Best of all, you don’t need a hard-wired dimmer switch-just use the in-app slider.
You can also adjust the Wyze Bulb Color’s warmth and, of course, color. Enjoy the exact lighting and ambiance you need at a moment’s notice.
Watch our quick video tutorial to learn how to change colors on the Wyze Bulb Color.
Easy setup
Setting up the Wyze Bulb Color is as easy as changing a light bulb. Screw it into any light fixture that can handle up to 75W, then log into the Wyze app and select the plus sign in the top left corner. Tap Add New Device > Power & Lighting > Wyze Bulb Color.
The bulb will pulse green to tell you it’s ready to pair with the app. From there, follow the on-screen instructions to name the bulb and pair it to Bluetooth.
Confusing home automation rules
Like all smart home devices worth their salt, the Wyze Bulb Color can be programmed to turn on and off at specific times or in response to other triggers. Also known as routines or scenes, these home automation rules provide a hefty dose of convenience and can even help protect your home from burglars by making it look occupied.
But we got frustrated trying to set up these rules on the Wyze app. There were too many menus and vague descriptions about each step or choice. We eventually figured it out, though, so be sure to watch our tutorial to learn how to set Wyze Bulb Color schedules.
What’s missing from the Wyze Bulb Color?
The Wyze Bulb Color doesn’t come with recommended scenes or automation rules, so you’ll have to come up with your own. You can’t change the bulb’s color through home automation rules, and there’s no color cycling option.
Smart home compatibility only works directly with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control, but you may be able to connect it to your other smart home devices through IFTTT.
Final word
Despite some missing features and a slightly complicated app, we think the Wyze Bulb Color is worth it. It accomplishes the major functions of a smart light bulb and is one of the most affordable options on the market.
